Hi, I'm Catherine!

I'm happy you're here. I am a North Shore, MA based birth doula with a background in integrative health. My passion lies in embracing a holistic approach to birth, drawing from the principles of integrative medicine, which encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health. I center my practice on an evidence-based approach, ensuring that the support and information I provide are grounded in most recent research. I have no agenda on how a family chooses to birth or parent their children, but rather hope that my presence can serve as a way to help you meet your own personal goals and wishes. I approach birth as a sacred journey, tailored to each client's unique beliefs and preferences.

What does a birth doula do?

Doulas provide continuous physical and emotional support and assistance in gathering information for clients and their partners during labor and birth. Navigating the myriad of birthing decisions in today’s media-saturated world can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. My approach is to adapt to the unique needs, values, and preferences of each family, offering individualized care and guidance tailored to your circumstances. A doula does not make decisions for you, alternatively they provide evidence-based resources to help guide you in making informed decisions.

Doulas are not medical professionals, but we are healthcare professionals (confusing I know). Doulas are well versed in non-medical skills and proven comfort techniques and tools such as massage, positioning strategies, and relaxation methods, to assist you during labor. We do not perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure monitoring or vaginal exams. Our role is to support your physical, emotional, and informational needs throughout your birthing journey. My personal goal as a doula is to help you have a safe and satisfying birth as you define it. Whether you choose a medicated or unmedicated birth, deliver in a hospital, birthing center, or at home, my commitment is to honor your choices and help you feel confident every step of the way. The best way I can support the families I work with is by creating a non-judgmental, nurturing space where you feel truly heard and respected.

About Me

I graduated the University of Vermont with a degree in Environmental Studies, and a certificate of integrative medicine. I quickly became fascinated with the interdisciplinary nature of these two studies. I share a deep respect for life in all its forms and recognize the connections between the health of the environment and the well being of individuals. The synergy of these two fields is something that inspires me in my daily life.

In my free time you can find me cooking, making herbal medicine, surfing or swimming in the ocean, and spending as much time with friends and family as possible. Here's me with the woman who brought me earthside!

Let's connect!

I'd love to hear from you
