Pre-natal:

  • 2-3 visits where we get to know
each other better, as well as your
preferences for your birth.  We also
   discuss comfort techniques and
    positioning for birth.
  • Unlimited phone and email contact to
answer your questions and or concerns about
     your pregnancy and upcoming birth.
     surrounding your due date.
  • Help writing your birth plan

During Labor:

  • Provide you with early labor support either in your home or else where as you desire.
  • Once you are in active labor, I will remain with you until 1-2 hours after the birth of
your child.  During this time I will provide, or direct in providing, comfort measures to
you as you labor.  These are non-medical in nature and include massage, counter-pressure,
use of a birth ball, and suggesting position changes.
  • I am able to provide accurate information regarding medical procedures you may face
during birth.  Although I can not speak to your care provider for you or on your behalf, I
can remind you or your loved ones of your desires regarding this birth.  I will also help
loved ones know how to communicate these things to your doctor, midwife, or other staff.
I will always strive to maintain the integrity of your birth experience.
  • I will try to provide a calm and relaxing birth environment in which you feel comfortable.
  • I am able and willing to provide birth photography during you birth, delivery and
postpartum period.  This is only as time permits, although it has yet to be an issue.
  • I will provide you with a completed birth story at your postpartum visit.  This is a great
way to reflect on the life changing experience you have just had.  I will also give you any
birth logs that were maintained during your birth.
  • If you are planning a homebirth, please note that my duties would also include helping to
    clean up after birth.

Postpartum:

  • I will remain with you for 1-2 hours after
birth to continue to provide comfort
 measures and assistance to you.
  • Help establish breastfeeding as soon as possible.  If you have questions or concerns I can
not answer, I will provide you with contact information for breastfeeding specialists.
  • I will visit you in your home 2 weeks after your birth.  We can discuss anything of your
liking, including emotional and physical changes in you or your baby and breastfeeding.  I
also have numerous resources that can help you obtain information or support you may
    need.
  • I am also available by phone or email during your postpartum time as well.
  • I am available to help you process your birth experience and answer any questions that
may have been left unresolved.  During this time we will also go over the birth story I have
written. This can often be a very rewarding time, as you reflect on how much work you
    did, and the beautiful outcomes!
